Career growth of Sam Foti

Sam Foti did not have any aspirations of entering into the insurance industry and even studied law for a while at the University of Oxford. He later changed his mind and enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania to complete his Masters in Finance and Investments. He immediately joined the insurance industry as he had found an employment with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. After working in different capacities for 11 years, he left the company to join the fledgling business of The MONY Group Inc. in 1988.

It was the time when Samuel J. Foti had to show his skills of crisis management and financial acumen. His first step was the restructuring of the company’s business and inclusion of investment portfolios. Secondly, he participated in the demutualization of the company and its transformation into a publicly listed corporation. These two steps were enough to change the fortune of an otherwise ailing insurer.

It was the untiring effort of Samuel Foti that resulted in the successful acquisition of the company by AXA Financial in 2004. The $60 million deal included lucrative packages for the workforce and a complete integration of the company’s assets, among other things.
